Built for the inner Bond girl in us all, this wetsuit-inspired collection of taut swimwear is the brainchild of New York stylist Lisa Marie Fernandez. Made of body molding neoprene (the same rubber that goes into scuba gear), the suit manage to still feel comfy thanks to its stretchiness and flexible boning along its bandeau bikini top. It’s our pick for a dressed up alternative to you basic black bikini.

Razor Sharp

camillaskovgaard.jpg
Ten years ago, Denmark-born designer Camilla Skovgaard traded her design kit for the chance to hit the books at the Royal College of Art. Following a seven-year stint in Dubai as shoemaker to the wives and daughters of local Sheikhs, she set course for London in pursuit of a masters degree during which time her eponymous label took form. Now the globetrotting designer who splits her time between three continents is known for her signature razor edge soles. Her hard hitting spring collection includes stiletto sandals with an asymmetric ankle cuff and a pair of peep toe mules all complete with spiky soles, natch.

Bagging Rights

While it may not be time yet to pull out the sunscreen and beach towels for us on the East Coast (darn you Left Coasters!), us girls in the office are still wistfully dreaming of spring sunshine… while running through our shopping check list naturally. Top of the list is something to carry that sunscreen and towel. Luckily there is this sand-friendly See by Chloé tote that fits the bill thanks to its practical plastic coating and a pretty psychedelic floral lining. And if it’s color you’re looking for, opt for its Barbie pink twin.

Malini.jpg
Indian-born, London-raised, and New York-educated Malini Murjani is a regular globetrotter who takes inspiration from Spanish beaches to create a collection filled with muted metallics and summery hues. Style must run in the family as Murjani’s father is a noted retail magnate who has brought outposts for Jimmy Choo, Gucci, and La Perla to India.

New to Intermix, Murjani’s hardware embellished hobo is turning heads for its ability to be muted whilst covered in a golden mesh metal. The camel colored bag is covered entirely on one side and just along the tops of its handles on the other side with the fine mesh.

Equipment Check

equip%20shirt.jpg
With a spring relaunch, former shirt label Equipment revisits its classic boyfriend shirt that made all the rage in the ‘80s. Founded in 1976 by Christian Restoin (hubby of editrix Carine Roitfeld), the line was shuttered in 1998 when Restoin decided to step aside to support Roitfeld in her new role as fashion arbiter of French Vogue. Now thanks to pal Serge Azria (brother of Max and creative director of Current/Elliott and Joie), Equipment is bringing back its signature silk menswear shirts with two patch pockets and with Restoin as a creative consultant naturally.

Fun factoid: Restoin met the French Voguette when she called in some Equipment shirts for a fashion shoot she was styling.

Cargo Load

j%20brand%20jeans.jpg
Cargo skinny jeans may seem like an oxymoron until you hand the shears to J Brand who has melded utility with a slim silhouette. For that tapered fit, the jeans are heavily seamed (we’re talking four vertical seams down the front, back, and both sides!) and sculpted at the knees with a diagonal inset that emphasizes its combat-ready look. Of course the requisite cargo pockets still remain however they are positioned higher and at the thighs. Expect a short-term wait as these jeans are on their way to our warehouse after a slight snow day delay so preorder now.

utility%20chic.jpg
There’s no need to forsake function for form as this season’s utilitarian trend tweaks all things slouched and cargo into wardrobe enhancing toppers. Cargo-inspired bottoms and outwear still resemble their humble origins thanks to plenty of oversized pockets but instead they are sculpted for a slim fit. Making it easy to wear and rewear, this trend is made up of subtle earthy tones from browns to olives.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

elizabeth-and-james03.jpg
Having already conquered the menswear and footwear fronts, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are adding another slash to their ever growing contemporary label. The project crunching sisters (the two are weeks away from their inaugural fashion week presentation and just launched junior label Olsenboye) are venturing into casualwear with a 3-piece denim collection which is slated to hit Intermix next month. Named after ‘70s music icons, the Textile line includes the Hendrix bell bottoms, the cropped Joni, and the dark patchwork Stevie jeans. A fun little tidbit is that all three pairs are inspired by actual jeans hanging in the duo’s closets with the Stevie hailing all the way from their high school days. We don’t know about you but anything that can survive the rocky transition from teenage adolescence to fresh-faced twentysomething deserves a permanent slot in our wardrobe rotation. While we count down the days till the jeans arrives, check out some other looks from the label and keep checking back.

Stripes Ahoy!

Filed under Lust Of The Day.

markus%20lupfer.JPG
German-born, London-based designer Markus Lupfer makes waves this season with a nautical collection that takes UES-approved stripes and reworks them with a decidedly LES sensibility. All it required was haphazardly tossed crystals, a load of sequins, and some ravaged black mesh trim. Take for instance a simple Breton striped cardigan that goes from AM to PM appropriate with the addition of a heavy cluster of pearlized; or a marinière-inspired long sleeved frock toughened up with tattered mesh and shoulder pads. With the nautical look already making headway this season, make sure to snap up these striped finds which are making their American debut at Intermix.

Manic Obsessions

No longer just worshipping at the altar of the holy trinity (we’re talking Louboutin, Blahnik, and Choo here), a bevy of red carpet PYTs are adding Brian Atwood to those hallowed halls. The footwear ace touts a devout well-heeled following which includes the likes of Leighton Meester, Vanessa Hudgens, Megan Fox, and Rose Byrne (the nominated Damanges starlet wore his signature Maniac pumps to the Golden Globes last month). Feel free to add your name to the shoe frenzy by preordering a pair of his wear-with-all nude pumps. Pulling rank as our #1 most preordered item this season, the patent pumps are known for hidden platforms that make for a seamless finish.

La Ruche

alc%20dress.jpg
Leave the double exposure to your gams with this long, long sleeved mini dress. The double layered jersey frock has such lengthy sleeves that the excess fabric leaves a scrunched effect at the cuffs. Modest in comparison, the bodice is cut to reveal raw-edged seams along the arms while its skirt is ultra ruched along the sides. Though you may not see it from all the gathering, its bubble hem is actually twisted at the center.

Twisted Jersey Dress, $250
Also in black.
